In January and February of 2016, I volunteered with the Mount Pleasant Heritage Group (MPHG) on a project called the “Heritage Heart Look & Find”. My role on this project included photographic documentation of selected heritage buildings and architectural details in Mount Pleasant (Vancouver, BC), preparation of images and documents for print, and installation of the project.

The installation is in the window of Rath Art Supplies (2412 Main Street) and will be up from February 15th to March 15th, 2016. This project, conceived by members of the MPHG is an effort to celebrate Canada’s Heritage Day (February 15th) and British Columbia’s Heritage Week (February 15th – 21st). The theme ‘Distinctive Destinations: Experience Historic Places’, guided the idea and the self-directed experience of engaging passers-by with the images and clues. At the site of installation, by “looking” across the street and around the area to “find” the details and stories, we hope to engage our community with the unique historic details that make this area, the “heart”.

For more information on the Mount Pleasant Heritage Group, please visit their blog or MPHG twitter.

This project was graciously sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area and Stan at Rath’s Art Supplies.
